Is Left 4 Dead 1 or 2 better?
Left 4 Dead is a better game in many major ways including animation atmosphere bot behavior and characters. Left 4 Dead 2 has more stuff. If you want an actual zombie apocalypse experience go with Left 4 Dead. If you just want to kill zombies and mod everything in sight go with Left 4 Dead 2.May 21 2014
What the difference between Left 4 Dead 1 and 2?
The primary difference is atmosphere. Left 4 Dead is quantifiably darker and there is much more ambient noise such as gunfire in the distance and background music more frequent than Left 4 Dead 2. You will need your flashlight through most of the Left 4 Dead campaigns whereas in Left 4 Dead 2 it’s mostly optional.Jun 8 2014

From a technical standpoint pretty much everything is better in L4D2. The maps are more detailed and varied there’s a larger selection of infected to play as and fight against more weapons etc. However is just doesn’t resonate with me in the same way as the original levels and characters do.Mar 14 2019
Do you need to play Left 4 Dead 1 to play Left 4 Dead 2?
No L4D2 contains new enemies and new weapons. Playing the original L4D maps is therefore different to playing them in the original game.
Is Left 4 Dead 2 still worth it?

If you like Survival mode you get more levels and the campaigns design is different in Left 4 dead 1 I feel it had better atmosphere and path choices. I would recommend Left 4 dead 2 though over 1.
