Left 4 Dead 2 is a cooperative first-person shooter video game developed and published by Valve Corporation. A sequel to Left 4 Dead (2008), the game builds upon ideas introduced in its predecessor by adding new survivor classes, melee weapons, and AI Director 2.0. Set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, the game pits its four protagonists—dubbed the "Survivors"—against hordes of the infected.
