Last week there was a rumor going around the gaming community that Overkill Entertainment was working on a new Left 4 Dead title. Overkill are developers of multiplayer shooter Payday: The Heist. They were recently acquired by Starbreeze – the makers of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, The Darkness and Syndicate. PSN dev announced Overkill would partner with Valve to collaborate on the game. It was believed the new Left 4 Dead game would tell the story of the zombie outbreak that happened before the original Left 4 Dead games. It was supposedly a “cool blend of Payday and Left 4 Dead.”
Unfortunately, these rumors of a new Left 4 Dead game are not true. “We’re trying to be a little coy and a little fun because we want the communities to discover it,” Valve’ Chet Falisek told PCGamesN, “but those guys are still making Payday: The Heist, we’re still making Left 4 Dead.” On a positive note, he says “we’re still making Left 4 Dead” which are choice words, because he could have said used past tense or words to portray future development of the game.
